About the Artist
Walker has always had a hard time distinguishing between purple and blue/green colors, even as a child coloring with crayons. I always thought color blindness was just that, blind to all colors. I didn’t realize it could be to certain colors. One day at a red light he ask me if you go when it turns blue, I said when it turns green. He said it looks blue to him. Umm I thought to myself, that’s not good. I saw your advertisement online and made him take the test. He failed it. So we had him pick out some frames on your website. He is a teenager so looking cool was important. He doesn’t like any of the indoor frames that he could wear during school. But the ones he has for outdoor has helped when playing baseball. When he is at school he has to get help with colors. On test, with colors or graphs with colors, he has to ask which is which. In his art classes he has to get help with colors he is using. He likes to outline his art with a black sharpie so he can see the boundaries. He tries to not use blues and purples close together so he can tell when one ends and one begins. He likes to use other colors besides those when drawing or painting. He loves art and drawing. Even has had his art displayed at our local art show that is put on every spring. Once his art was chosen to be displayed at the Huntsville Art Museum. He is very talented and has never let this hold him back. I think before we discovered he was colorblind, he just thought that is what the world looked like. Colors were just muted. The glasses have made things more vibrant for him.
