VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
Life is full of colorful moments, and at Enchroma, our goal is to help the color blind more fully experience those moments.
This is no small task: Color blindness affects approximately 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women. But since we began our mission over 20 years ago, we’ve helped tens of thousands of customers see a more colorful world.
As is often the case with scientific innovation, it is natural to be skeptical.
With this in mind, I want to cover some key topics and give you the facts.
1. First, what is color blindness?
2. How do EnChroma glasses work, and who do they work for?
3. What’s the science behind our glasses?
4. Where do all those viral videos of people trying our glasses come from?
5. And lastly, how do we handle customer reviews on our site?
WHAT IS COLOR BLINDNESS?
When light enters the eye, it activates photoreceptor cone cells that can normally detect red, green, and blue wavelengths of light allowing us to see all the colors of the rainbow.
Color blindness happens when one or more of your eye’s photoreceptor cones don’t work correctly or at all.
There are different types of color blindness.
Red-Green Color Blindness is the most common. In this type, the red or green cones are deficient and overlap certain wavelengths of light incorrectly. This causes people to confuse colors or not see certain colors.
There is also…Blue-Yellow Color Blindness, where blue cones are affected.
Dichromacy, where only 2 of 3 cone types are functioning.
And Rod Monochromacy, where none of the cones are functioning.
Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for color blindness. But we’ve created a solution that can aid those with color blindness.
HOW DO OUR GLASSES WORK?
EnChroma’s patented notch-filter glasses are designed to help about 80% of people with red-green color blindness see an expanded range of visible colors and to distinguish shades more accurately.
The glasses selectively filter out certain wavelengths of light to increase color contrast between the red and green color signals before they reach the eye.
By adjusting the signals received by the eye, a color-blind person can perceive colors and shades of colors in a new way.
Not everyone with red-green color blindness will get the same results from our glasses or get normal color vision. This is mainly because color blindness is not a singular condition, and everyone is unique.
Some people have an immediate and dramatic experience when trying on our glasses for the first time.
For some it may take a couple of weeks of wearing our glasses for them to accommodate to the glasses and see more of an effect.
And for some, the glasses may not work, or the effect won’t be to their satisfaction.
We didn’t design our glasses as a cure for color blindness or to help someone pass a color blindness test and they don’t change the anatomy of the eye. Instead, we made them to help color blind people in their everyday lives.
We stand behind our product and have consistently offered a 60-day money back guarantee that gives you plenty of time to try our glasses. If they don’t work for you or you are simply not happy with them, we’ll refund your money, no questions asked. Plus, we offer a two year warranty against manufacturing defects.
THE SCIENCE
We believe in the strength of our science and the positive impact EnChroma glasses can have on individuals. That’s why EnChroma is built on a foundation of ever-evolving scientific research. Our Chief Science Officer and co-founder received three grants from the National Institutes of Health, which helped us develop our technology.
Many leading color vision scientists have researched our glasses. We reference some of these studies on our site. The studies were done independently. Were not paid for by EnChroma. And we didn't influence the studies.
You can read more about it yourself. We provide links to this independent research or press releases about the research on our site. Or you can check out the links in the video description.
VIRAL VIDEOS
Over the years, we’ve been thrilled to see thousands of real, happy customers post their reaction videos online.
These videos are not staged or influenced by EnChroma. Almost all are created organically by customers that wanted to share their experience and newfound joy in seeing a more colorful world.
The rights to these videos are owned by the creators and they simply allow us to post them or create compilation videos from them. On the rare occasions we’ve worked with colorblind influencers to create content, we ask them to be real and authentic with their reactions.
The thousands and thousands of real videos posted or submitted by our real customers are proof of the joy our product can bring, and we’re excited to continue showing them off.
WEBSITE REVIEWS
Given the popularity of our glasses, we receive numerous reviews and ratings on our website. We act in accordance with the Consumer Review Fairness Act, and we regularly review our policies and procedures to ensure that all valid reviews from verified customers, good or bad, are posted.
