In the summer, lavender blooms in vast fields of gentle purple hue. Not only is this a beautiful sight to see, but it is used as an ingredient in delicious foods such as lavender sorbet and lavender honey. The Lavender Festival, or Fête de la Lavande is held on August 15th in the village of Sault, in Provence. Attendees can enjoy cutting lavender with sickles, live bands performing traditional music and a farmers market full of lavender-based products and foods.
