Derby

They really work!!! My mom and I were super nervous that they wouldn't, plus they were really expensive because he needed progressive prescription lenses. I've been wanting to get my dad these glasses for a few years now, my mom and I finally got them for his birthday which is the day after thanksgiving. I made him take the enchroma color blind test a few months ago, and wouldn't tell him why. She secretly got his prescription from the optometrist while he wasn't looking. The glasses came a lot sooner than I expected, the look awesome! I'm so mad that my camera stopped recording right before my dad finally realized that he was seeing color and got super emotional. I have never seen him cry before, so I was not expecting that reaction at all! We spent all day pointing out colors to him, I showed him a trippy psychedelic music video, we took him to a local holiday light show, and watched a few of his favorite movies so that he could see them in color for the first time. It was like watching a kid at Disneyland for the first time lol. Definitely worth it!

In addition to being colorblind (deutan), my eyesight has never been great. Several years back, several friends went together and got me the "fitover" glasses. I was mesmerized by the colors I was able to see, especially that traffic lights really were green (especially when the cars behind me started honking to remind me that it meant "go"). I wore them outside throughout the summer, but they were bulky and not comfortable over my regular glasses.

But this year I decided to splurge. I needed a new prescription anyway, so I got these Derby outdoor glasses in a new prescription... and wow wow wow! Not only did reds spring to life like never before, it was twice as amazing because the new prescription lenses made everything crisper and clearer -- and now saturated with color! I ran around the neighborhood to gawk at flowers and stop signs and billboards, and the stained-glass windows in my parish church... wow! A beauty previously hidden, but now alive and inspiring, and open to me for the first time.

Truth be told, while I dreamed about this for a few years, I had hesitated because I was very nervous about buying prescription glasses over the internet. They look ok on handsome models online, but what about me? What if they fit awkwardly? What if they were uncomfortable?
