Color Blind Scenic Viewers
Powered by EnChroma® lens technology for color blindness, specially-adapted SeeCoast scenic viewers enable those with color blindness to more fully experience the colorful beauty of nature at state parks, scenic overlooks, wildlife refuges and other locations. While people with normal color vision see more than one million hues and colors, the 350 million people in the world with color blindness only see an estimated 10% of them. As a result, their world view is less vibrant and dull and some colors appear muddled or indistinguishable.
EnChroma Lens Technology
EnChroma’s patented lens technology is specially engineered to help those with red-green color blindness experience clear, vibrant and distinct color. EnChroma modified its lens format and filter design for the high-power zoom optics in SeeCoast viewers so those with color blindness can enjoy the vibrant beauty of our world.
The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development was the first to introduce SeeCoast viewers powered by EnChroma to enable color blind visitors to see the changing colors in Fall at 12 parks and scenic overlooks. Others offering the special viewers color blind program include:
- J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge (operated by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service), Sanibel Island, FL
- City of Sandy, OR, the gateway to Mount Hood
- Amicalola Falls State Park, Dawsonville, GA
- Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park, Macon GA (color blind glasses)
*more participating organizations to be announced soon
