Even if I get the colours 'wrong' I think it helps non colour blind people to see the world as I see it.

About the Artist

My colour blindness prevented me from training as a pilot. I eventually went to medical school but had to have help passing the histology section of the course as I couldn't differentiate between colours in stained slides. I qualified as a doctor eventually.

Artist's Statement

"As a family doctor I needed help reading the results of tests requiring changes in colour. Paradoxically, when I worked in the medical branch of the Air Force, I often had to test for colour blindness using Ishihara plates and it was strange to tell people they had failed the test when I agreed with every answer they gave! As an artist I asked for help about the various colours I was using as I once did a portrait in which I had chosen green as a suitable colour for a person's cheeks. However, even if I get the colours 'wrong' I think it helps non colour blind people to see the world as I see it."
