As a deutan person, I've always had trouble distinguishing between red/green/gray colour nuances, especially in low light conditions.
I've known about Enchroma for several years now, but the high price range kept me from buying a pair.
Recently, I was deemed unable to pass an eye examination in my local country, since any type of colour deficiency disqualifies you. I know other countries have no issues with this, and our local laws are poorly written so it's up to the doctor who examines you to decide whether you're a fit or not.
So I took a leap of faith and bought 2 Ellis glasses (indoor and outdoor) following the colour blindness test and subsequent instructions on Enchroma's website. It was a costly leap of faith, and the import taxes were more than 30% of the total cost of the glasses.
At the end of the day, it was totally worth it: I tried my medical exam one more time and was able to pass. The doctor deemed me eligible with the condition I wear the glasses, which I have been doing ever since.
But if I am to be frank, the sensation of wearing them was not a life changing event for me. I can already see most of the colours that surround me, albeit I mix them up sometimes. It clearly makes me more assertive when talking about "greenish", "reddish" or "uhm, kind-a-grayish" colours, and it'll definitely help me out when driving, and that's why I do wear the glasses.
I'm sure the sensation is different for everyone, as the level of colour deficiency is individual for each of us, so I do encourage anyone who is colour blind to give the glasses a try. You might be surprised by the effect.
Thank you Enchroma for bringing more colour in my life!
These are amazing! They were purchased for my husband and it's so wonderful to see him experience the simplest things that we take for granted, such as a simple commercial on TV. He's able to sit in his chair and watch his favorite shows and see what we see now.
Los lentes de uso interior resultaron excelentes para corregir mis deficiencias, repetí el test de colores y pocas fallé, gracias por existir y darnos la oportunidad de ver el mundo de colores...
The Ellis Cx1 indoor glasses are amazing. These were bought for my husband and it is heart melting to watch him look at the world in color. Stained glass windows were something he enjoyed seeing.
He is getting horrible headaches from using them so he’s going to have to work with them to prevent the headaches.
Can tell a little difference, but i know they dont work with everyone. But im still happy with my purchase!
