Like most eyewear frames, EnChroma frames may contain stainless steel hardware components such as wire, hinges and screws. Stainless steel is an alloy of iron, chromium and nickel. Metallic nickel has been classified as a possible carcinogen and is on the Prop 65 warning list.
What testing does EnChroma perform on its frames?EnChroma uses an independent third party laboratory to test its frames and lenses for compliance with international standards including EN 16128:2015. EnChroma frames are compliant with the requirement for upper limit of nickel migration as specified in paragraph 1(b) and (c) of entry 27 of Annex XVII to the REACH. REACH is a European Union regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals. However, the REACH is not recognized by the State of California. EnChroma does not endorse the use of the glasses to pass occupational screening tests such as the Ishihara test: these tests may be required in occupations where public safety is at risk such as public transport operators, electricians and first responders. My family gifted me a pair of sunglasses on Father's Day to correct my Strong Protan color blindness - I knew since middle school that I have been missing out on quite a bit of the color spectrum, but I had no idea just how bright reds could be - and there is a lot of green that I haven't been able to see either. At 50 years old, I'm having so much fun really seeing colors for the first time. Sunsets have always been a favorite of mine, and I have photographed them for decades, but I had no idea just how beautiful they can be... WOW!
Thank you Enchroma for making all of this possible! This is the gift of a lifetime for me!
Love my new sunglasses
I was skeptical at first especially considering the expectation that was set that the viral videos are not what should be expected however for me it was instant. I'm able to distinguish and recognise colours of things I never could before. I just wish there was an indoor version for SP also :( I love the colour red now where before I didn’t really care much for it at all and seeing purple clearly now is a game changer.
This is my second pair of enchroma glasses and I think this pair works better than the originals I got 3 years ago. I am a strong Protan so I keep seeing new colors of red/purple and green just pops now.
In the past I have received a green lens only my reds would be darker. I got a red only lens and my greens were darker. What I have now I now can see both green and red brighter. The computer test I went from strong protan to mild protan. Hopefully soon one of these hospitals or when I renew my drivers license they will test me with their color charts . I understand I am supposed to see numbers. They must be funny charts because I can’t see numbers with and without glasses.
