Like most eyewear frames, EnChroma frames may contain stainless steel hardware components such as wire, hinges and screws. Stainless steel is an alloy of iron, chromium and nickel. Metallic nickel has been classified as a possible carcinogen and is on the Prop 65 warning list.
What testing does EnChroma perform on its frames?EnChroma uses an independent third party laboratory to test its frames and lenses for compliance with international standards including EN 16128:2015. EnChroma frames are compliant with the requirement for upper limit of nickel migration as specified in paragraph 1(b) and (c) of entry 27 of Annex XVII to the REACH. REACH is a European Union regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals. However, the REACH is not recognized by the State of California. NOTICE: EnChroma glasses are an optical assistive device for enhancement of color discrimination in persons with color blindness; they are not a cure for color blindness. Results vary depending on the type and extent of color vision deficiency per individual. EnChroma does not endorse the use of the glasses to pass occupational screening tests such as the Ishihara test: these tests may be required in occupations where public safety is at risk such as public transport operators, electricians and first responders. Wearing of any filtering lens including colored contact lenses during test administration is prohibited and may invalidate the accuracy of the results.
My husband's (strong dutan colorblindness) Christmas gift was an Enchroma gc. He chose the Modoc Cx3 Sun glasses and loves them. Ordered them on December 25th and they were delivered January 3rd. They are very sporty looking and have good coverage of peripheral vision. He describes everything as more vibrant, especially reds and blues. It's fun to see him compare something with and without the glasses and experience colors for the first time. I will say, we bought them on sale and both agreed we wouldn't have paid full price. Overall, would recommend.
We love the glasses. Thank you so much
Merci , ça fonctionne très bien!! J’ai enfin vue pour la première fois la couleur du garage de ma voisine
My friends and I pitched in and bought this for our friend and didn’t anticipate how impactful it was for him. It has changed a lot of aspects in his life from seeing the different and new colors of food while cooking, the shades of green in a park, and the list goes on. A genuine product breathing life into an unknown part people didn’t know they were missing out on.
After trying a pair out at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, NM I was pleasantly surprised to see the reds that have been missing from the color palette I see. Later I decided to purchase a pair for outdoor use. Whoa, I didn’t realize I know the colors that I’m now seeing- I had believed I just didn’t know what color things were. The green traffic light is actually green and totally caught me off guard! I didn’t recognize the color until I saw all the cars in front of me start going lol. Anyway, I am moderate protan and these help when I’m outdoors. I wear them as everyday sunglasses for this reason. Seeing things for the first time in 40 years. Very cool!
